Wetlands

RWE has experience on wetland restoration projects of all sizes. We evaluate wetland restoration sites by taking a watershed-level view of ecological function and asses the site for potential impacts associated with sea level rise and climate change in the early stages of design.

We work on coastal and freshwater wetland restoration and mitigation. Typical project types include:

  • Forested and Emergent Wetland Restoration

  • Riparian/Floodplain Wetlands Restoration

  • Mitigation Banking

  • Salt Marsh Restoration

  • Freshwater Tidal Restoration

  • Living Shorelines

  • Salt Marsh Restoration

We are experts at navigating state and federal regulations to ensure that the project design is approved and that the wetland restoration project functions as intended. RWE designs wetlands taking into consideration the soil substrate and surficial and groundwater hydrology. Additional design criteria may include removal of targeted contaminants, water quality requirements, spatial limitations, context within the landscape/site, and aesthetic value.

Let RWE support you with your wetland restoration and mitigation needs! We will work to

  • Design a comprehensive wetland restoration project including creation, enhancement, restoration, and preservation

  • Work to restore degraded or compromised wetlands
